Things You Should Know About Residential Chain Link Fencing

Residential chain link fencing is an ideal way to keep pets and children in the yard while discouraging unwanted creatures. This type of fence, also known as a cyclone or hurricane fence, is constructed of steel wire called "fabric". If you are considering installing a chain link fence, then this is what you need to know. Next, the chain link fence supplier will share with you.

Types of Wire for Residential Chain Link Fences

Residential chain link fences use three main types of wire.

Galvanized - Also known as galvanized, this type of wire can last 12 years or more without any maintenance, making it a popular choice for enclosing residential properties. It can be constructed in two different ways: GBW fencing is galvanized before it is braided, while GAW is galvanized after it is braided.

Stainless Steel

Because this is the strongest material, it is also the most expensive. Stainless steel has high alkali resistance and can withstand high temperatures and other harsh weather. Also, it will not break, sag or roll, so it can retain its shape for a long time. That's why it is often used in highways, airports, and other areas that require above-average performance.

Aluminum

This material is corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and can withstand harsh weather. It has the same coating process as galvanized wire. Aluminum chain link fencing is recommended for school grounds, ranches, and other public areas.

Sizing Considerations for Residential Chain Link Fences

Height

Most chain link fences range in height from 3 to 12 feet, usually 50 feet.

Gauze Size-Gauze sizes range from 13 to 6. The average gauze size is 11. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the mesh. For example, a size 10 gauze is slightly thicker than a size 11 gauze, while the heaviest and thickest gauze is a size 6 gauze.

Mesh Size

To find the mesh size, measure the diameter of the diagonal inner square. The typical grid size is 2 inches, which means a gauge size of 9 or 11. However, if the grid size is 2.25 inches, the gauze is usually 11.5, which is thinner.

Applications of Chain link fence

Chain link fence is used as fencing, decoration, or protection for various facilities in the industry, agriculture, infrastructure, transport, etc.

Commercial grounds (Corporation, hotel, supermarket);

Private grounds (Courtyard, Villadom);

Public grounds (Park, zoo, train or bus station, lawn);

Road and transit (Highway, railway or road city transit);

The grid or mesh size you need depends on the purpose of your fence. The smaller the mesh size, the more durable is your fence as it has more metal. While industrial and high-security fencing requires a tiny mesh size of 0.38 to 0.62 inches, a residential size would be 2.38 inches. A mid-size mesh ranges from 1” to 1.75” and is suited for enclosing recreational centers such as pools and sporting arenas.
